A Thought for the week
Week of April 28
When Jacob awoke from his sleep, he thought, “Surely the Lord is in this place, and I was not aware of it.” He was afraid and said, “How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God; this is the gate of heaven.” Genesis 28:16-17
The story of Jacob’s ladder is always amazing. Running away from his family, Jacob takes a rest and has a dream. He sees angels going up and down from heaven. Jacob wakes up and is amazed at what he saw. One part of the story jumps out at me. Jacob was unaware of God’s presence until he had his dream. I find that this is how God works in the world. God is working in many ways that we cannot see. Then there are times that the veil is lifted and we see the workings of God around us. After reading this story, we can have faith that God is at work in the world even when we don’t see.
