A Thought for the week
Week of September 14

Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Colossians 3:12-14

I read this passage and long to see this more in the Church. When I say the “Church” I mean the whole Church of Christ; every denomination and belief that uplifts the Gospel. Though there are churches out there that embody this calling, there are others that do not. Others that look more like the Church of Corinth, full of division and factions and infighting. Down the road, we may find ourselves in moments where we are like the Church of Corinth rather than the Church of Colossae. Let us not forget this passage. Seeking to live as God’s chosen people who put on love above all things.
