A Thought for the week
Week of January 11
“A voice of one calling in the wilderness, ‘Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for him.’” Matthew 3:3b
The wildest things come out in the wildness. Random noises of the animals and nature can startle the most prepared adventurer. The message of John the Baptist did the same thing. It startled the most pious of Jews. The message of Christ coming shook the masses. Looking at us now, are we shaken by Christ’s calling? When one is startled they are on alert, keeping in mind what is around them. As we live in our world, are we living our faith on autopilot or are we actively “flying the plane” of our faith in Jesus Christ; keeping our faith active and not dormant?
