A Thought for the week
Week of April 21

At that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Who, then, is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” He called a little child to him, and placed the child among them. And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me. Matthew 18:1-5

This Sunday is our youth service. The whole worship service will be led by the participants of our youth group. Whenever we talk about the young adults in our church and community I come back to this passage. As the kids grow from learning from their adults, leaders, and teachers, we can learn from them too. In youth, there is a new perspective. A different way of understanding the world that is new or a way we may have forgotten because we grew up. Often we say the youth are the future of the church but if we take note from Jesus here, they are the church. They embody the humbleness and curiosity that all of the followers of Christ need to model.
